Autobiography

Hey, hello, I'm Sophie Lacson-Lambinet. asl?don't.
I've been a musician for over a decade. My gateway "instrument" was choir, and my instrument of choice is piano. Ukulele & toy instruments are great too. Between countless choir festivals & concerts, solo vocal competitions, piano recitals, and casual singing events with or without my ukulele, I've ultimately felt at home making my own content. Despite the irony of having never played in an orchestra or band, I've found the potential palette offered by chamber orchestras equally enticing and rewarding; there is an inherent beauty in such instruments and setups with a boundless horizon for opportunity. Additionally, I dabble in metal, because I grew up listening to that, and humorous or not singer-songwriter stuff, because I grew up singing 4-5 days a week.

There's no one way to describe my, or anyone's, creative process. Some days it's the sonic expression of an emotion, other days I draw on the human senses, and some moments of inspiration are simply not that deep. It's rare for my mind to NOT have something musical going on - it's never purely silent (thank you, tinnitus-at-birth!), but unless I'm sleeping, I'm probably recreating a song I like or imagining one of my own.

Under the wings of Leslie Hogan, Jeremy Haladyna, Sarah Gibson, and Andrew Watts, I received a BA with honors for music composition at UCSB's CCS. Influences include ZUN, Yu-peng Chen, Peter McConnell, Blue Stahli, and many others.

When I'm not in the mood for music, I'm probably drawing or training my cat to do puzzles for "her enrichment" (my amusement).
